On October 21, 1774 the Sons of Liberty drove pro-British Tories out of the city of Taunton, Massachusetts. This flag was raised over the city. It is a British Red Ensign with the words “Liberty and Union” added. Like the Grand Union, it was made by defacing an existing British flag.

Today, it is still flown by the city of Taunton as their official flag.

3’x5′ flags are 3 feet x 5 feet, 36 inches by 60 inches, 91 cm by 152 cm, 1 yard by 1.7 yards. This is the most common size flag you see hanging on porches, small flag poles, hanging at festivals, and inside of bars and restaurants.
