Founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1765 to oppose the Stamp Act. The group quickly spread to other major cities. In 1767, the Sons of Liberty launched a campaign of intimidation against British government officials. This culminated in the “Boston Tea Party” of 1773.

The Sons of Liberty flag was created in 1767 and called the “rebellious stripes flag.” While it featured nine vertical stripes, it is generally believed to have been the inspiration for later flags with thirteen horizontal stripes.

3’x5′ flags are 3 feet x 5 feet, 36 inches by 60 inches, 91 cm by 152 cm, 1 yard by 1.7 yards. This is the most common size flag you see hanging on porches, small flag poles, hanging at festivals, and inside of bars and restaurants.
